Shipwreck
Beach
on
Lanai
This
is one of the most interesting beaches that you will visit.
It's on the island of Lana, a short ferry ride from Lahaina
Harbor in Lahaina Town on the west side of Maui.
The
best beach on the island of
Lanai is Hulopoe Beach on the southeastern side of the island.
In fact, it's just a short walk from the harbor at Manele
Bay.
Take
the ferry to Lanai from Maui. Photos
of Hulopoe Beach Park!

Black
Rock in Kaanapali
Black
Rock in Kaanapali is one of the best and most popular snorkeling
locations on the island of Maui. The water is calm, there
is good visibility, equipment rentals are nearby, and there
are other snorkelers around to support and assist if you feel
uncomfortable in the water. There is no lifeguard on duty!
Black
Rock is at The Kaaapali Beach Resort area just past Lahaina
Town and is located at the Sheraton
Maui Resort & Spa. It is a beautiful spot and the green
Naupaka plant is
growing wildly along the shoreline.
It's
easy to see why this area is called "Black Rock"
as the lava formation to the right of the entrance to this
popular spot is black lava formed thousands of year ago. Make
sure to follow the instructions on the signs.
The
entrance to the snorkeling area is well-defined, and there
is normally a large group of people snorkeling at Black Rock.
Get comfortable with your mask and snorkel before entering
the water.
Take
your fins with you and
put them on while floating in the water, not while still on
the beach. It's difficult to walk wearing fins.
The
water at Black Rock is very clear early in the morning, and
you'll be able to see a wide variety of fish. Quite often,
a green sea turtle (Honu in the hawaiian language) will be
spotted along the coral reef.
Be
respectful of this incredible creature and maintain a safe
distance from all Green Turtles.
Both
locals and visitors like to jump off the top of Black Rock.
There are numerous "Off Limits" signs posted on
the black lava rock warning those that would like to try to
jump off the top of Black Rock. It can be dangerous and should
be avoided.
Black
Rock and the Kaanapali Beach Resort area is a great location
to see the Humpback Whales during the months of November through
April.
The
island of Maui boasts some of the best beaches
in the world. Maui beaches are known for calm water that is
crystal-clear in the early morning hours.
Some
of the best beaches are in two distinct locations - West
Maui
and South Maui. These are not all of the beaches on Maui -
just a few of the best!
Take
a few minutes to look at some of Maui's best beaches!
One
of the best snorkeling locations on Maui is the well-known
Black Rock
area on the western side of the island.
Black
Rock is oceanside to the Sheraton-Maui
Resort & Spa and is a calm, crystal-clear snorkeling spot
for beginners and small children.

Swinging
Bridges Hike
The
hike to the Swinging Bridges is an easy 2 1/2 mile walk each
way and can be done in the early morning hours or late afternoon,
leaving you plenty of time to do other activities.
At
just over 10,000 feet in the air, Hakeakala Crater is one
of the most amazing places to visit on Maui - and on the planet!
The drive to Haleakala
National Park takes you through the beautiful "upcountry"
section of Maui. It's a leisure drive and is a "must-see"
location while visiting the island.
